Allele • • A section of DNA that codes for a specific trait or
characteristic.
Gene • • A long-chain molecule made up of many repeating
units called monomers.
Nucleotide • • An acid that carries the genetic information in the
cell and is capable of self-replication.
DNA • • The building blocks of your body. Made up of long
chains of amino acids.
Protein • • An alternative form of a gene.
Polymer • • The repeating unit of a DNA molecule. Made up of a
sugar, a phosphate and a base.
