Measuring Variation II
Aim:		 To measure the variation in handspan within the class.
Method: 1. Place your hand flat on the ruler on the side of the page. Position your thumb so that
it is on the “Start” line.
2. Stretch you hand as far as possible across the ruler. Measure the distance from your
thumb to the tip of your little finger. Record your results to the nearest centimetre.
3. Your teacher will get the class to place a tally mark in the correct box on the board
so that you can copy down the handspans of the entire class. Record the class
results in the table below.
4. Process your data by plotting a line graph of the class data.
