LIFE AND THE TAIAO
Habitats
A habitat is a place where a plant or animal lives. Habitats provide a place where organisms
can find food, shelter and reproduce. An example of a habitat is a harbour. A harbour provides
shelter, food and a place to reproduce for fish, shellfish, stingrays and even whales. The harbour
habitat contains different environmental conditions than those found on an exposed rocky shore
habitat or open ocean habitat. The environmental conditions within a habitat are important for
the survival of the organism.
